He was visiting his father when the Battle of Germantown broke out. He was struck in the leg during the battle and died for want of care. He may actually be buried at the battle site.

I don't know who this foot stone shown in the photo belongs to, but as it says "A. C." it's clearly not for Lewis Chamberlin. This cemetery holds the remains of Anna Parke Chamberlin and perhaps this stone is hers.
