Mr. Alanson Birdsey, one of the oldest residents of the city, died at his residence on Broad street, at 11 o'clock on Friday night, aged 78 years. He had been in poor health for some time, and has suffered a great deal from consumption. Mr. Birdsey has always resided in Meriden, and he kept a clothing store in the Meriden House block for many years. He was a member of the Uptown Baptist church, and was very much respected.His wife and two children, Mrs. Frank Foster of this city and Mrs. [Walter] Booth of Peoria, Ill, survive him, and the latter arrived home several days before her father's death.
