He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor C. Whitley ; daughters, Nancy Kelly (Howell), Janice Junker (Bob); son, Richard (Mary); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Violet Hauswald.
A private family service was held on Martha's Vineyard on December 24, 2009. A memorial service in Birmingham is planned for Spring 2010 at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Whitley retired from Concrete Asbestos Pipe Company in Birmingham where he served as president for twelve years. In addition, he served as Director of Centurion Medical Products in Howell, Michigan which was formerly Tri-State Hospital Supply for almost 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church: Mission Fund.
