Carolina "Carol", a resident of Chimayo, was predeceased by her husband Gilbert; sons: Dickie and Sammy Ortiz; parents Antonio and Delfina Lujan; four brothers and one sister; in-Laws Esquipula and Anita Ortiz.

Carol was survived by her daughter and companion whom she loved and adored dearly, Vicki Ortiz; grandson that she helped raise and considered like her son, Barney Trujillo; her newest granddaughter, her friend and helper, Shannon; their girls who Carol also helped raise and who added so much fun, joy and love to Carol's life: Janessa and Tiffany, all from Chimayo; granddaughters: Deana Aragon and husband Aaron, their daughter Aliyah, and son Austin, all from Española; Stephanie Ortiz and companion Eric Trujillo, their sons Samuel Martinez and Eric Trujillo Jr., from Chimayo; Sheryl Baca and her husband Abraham, their sons Dominic and Gabriel, and daughters, Felice and Abryanna, all from Canjilon. Brother Ciprano Lujan and wife Aggie from Santa Cruz; special nephew Luis Lujan from Santa Cruz; very special friend she considered like her sister, Nina Torres and her husband Lawrence from Cordova, their daughters, Sheila and husband Tomas, and their son, James from San Pedro. Crystal Martinez and companion Mario Ulibarri from Española; a very special friend for many years, who was also her spiritual sister, Geri Lujan and her husband Ron and their daughters, Madeline & Monica all from Chimayo. Carol was blessed with many relatives, and many, many friends, who faithfully prayed for her.

A Rosary was recited April 2, 2013 at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial was on April 3, 2013 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial followed in Nuestra Señora de Dolores Catholic Cemetery in Chimayo.
