George J. Moehn, age 73, of Hilbert, died on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000 at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee after a courageous battle with heart disease since 1989.

He was born Jul. 31, 1927 in Stockbridge, son of the late Mathias and Magdalena (Kloeppel) Moehn.

He married Bernadette (Betty) Buechel on May 2, 1959 at St. Augustine Church in Chilton.

He was a graduate of St. Mary's Grade School and Stockbridge High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the German Occupation from 1950-1952. He farmed in the Stockbridge area for 38 years.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, a member of the school board, at the town board, and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife Betty; seven children, Terry (Kathy) Moehn of Stockbridge, Alan (Jane) Moehn of Sherwood, Victoria (Luke) Schneider of Chilton, Jerome (Julie) Moehn of Racine, Lannette (Michael) Diederichs of Mt. Calvary, Annette (Charles) Lisowe of Chilton, and June (Duane) McKinny of Kenosha; fourteen grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Moehn, Nicole, Ashley and Kyle Schneider, Beth, Patrick and Benjamin Moehn, Nicholas and Eric Moehn, Amber, Brianne and Logan Lisowe, and Justin Diederichs; five sisters, Lucille (Harry) Martin, Luella (Robert) Brooks, Helen Lucey, Mary (Robert) Schwobe and Carol (Richard) Mueller; four brothers, Matt, Harold, Arthur and Gerald Moehn; and one sister-in-law, Florence Moehn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford Moehn; and one brother-in-law, James Lucey.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. Mary Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Chilton from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
