Reading Eagle, Jan. 16, 1967:
Ira F. Angstadt, 58, of 250 Buckingham Drive, Bethlehem, a Berks native and a former director of development for the Muhlenburg Medical Center, Allentown, died at the center.
Before joining the medical center, he was editor of AeroDigest and managing editor of the technical magazine published by McGraw-Hill.
A longtime member of the Lutheran Layman's movement, he served on its executive committee and in 1952 was appointed chairman of the Lutheran Church in America delegation to the North American Lay conference.
In 1954 he served as supervisor of general field work and counselor for the layman's movement fundraising project. He helped in raising $1.5 million for the project.
He accepted the post with the medical center in 1959 and served until the post was abolished as of Jan. 1.
Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late Jonas S. and Alice (Fenstermacher) Angstadt.
He was a charter member and first president of the Allentown Northeast Kiwanis Club.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, and of the board of the Evangelical Committee of the Lutheran Church of America.
Surviving are his widow, Mabel E. (Stump) Angstadt; three sons, Robert P.. Hicksville, N.Y.; Richard D., Peekskill, N.Y., and Bryan D., at home; a brother, Earl, Reading; three sisters, Mrs. Warren Davis, Wernersville; Mrs. Harry Greim, Bristol, and Mrs. Edgar Bright, Center Valley, and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in St. Stephen's Church. Viewing will be at the church at noon until the time of services.
Burial will be made in St. Daniel's cemetery, Robesonia.
The Ashton Funeral Home, Bethlehem, is in charge of arrangements.
