Mrs. Frieda Louise Nichols, 56, wife of Francis A. Nichols of 1014 Ripley avenue, died Friday at her home after a brief illness.

A native of Chicago, she lived in Cranford many years before moving here 11 years ago. She was a member of First Methodist Church and a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Capt. Newell Rodney Fiske Post 335, VFW, Cranford.

Survivors, besides her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Gammon McClure in Germany, Mrs. Andrew Bace, Summit, and Miss Anne Nichols at home; a son, Herbert L. at home and three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Peterson, Mrs. Melvin Berry and Mrs. Edward Howard, all of Chicago.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Gray's Funeral Home with the Rev. Karl E. Wright assistant pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
