Mrs. Vern Austif
Mrs. Neva Eldridge Austif, wife of Vern Austif, of southwest of Waverly, died at 7:05 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, at Passavant hospital, Jacksonville, where she had been a patient for several days. She had been in failing health for some time.
She was born in Morgan county on December 31, 1890, the daughter of Charles and Lucinda White Eldridge. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Mrs. Ethel Kisner and Mrs. Kate Bull, of Springfield; Mrs. Wilma Edwards, of Waverly; Melvin Austif of Modesto and Glenn Austif, of Virden. There are five grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Oren and Earl Eldridge of Waverly, and Charles Eldridge, of Jacksonville; and two sisters, Mrs. William Points and Mrs. Rose Baggerly, of waverly.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. Robert Kater, officiating, assisted by Rev. Joe Hill, of White Hall.
Mrs. Gordon Hankins played piano selections during the service.
The pall bearers were Maurice Eldridge, Donald Eldridge, Julian Baggerly, Warren Pence, Russell Points, and David Eldridge.
The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Iona Stanberry, Mrs. Mildred Redfern, Mrs. Ruby Connolly, Mrs. Louise Williams, Mrs. [a; Nevins and Mrs. Clara Campbell.
Intement was in East Cemetery.
