Death of H. W. Dupy
Landlord H. W. Dupy, of the Luella Hotel, died Sunday afternoon at 2:15, the cause of his death being asthma and bronchitis. The asthma affected his heart and that is probably what made death come so suddenly as it did.
Mr. Dupy was out in town late in the afternoon of Friday, apparently in his normal health, and about 7:30 of that evening he was taken sick with his final illness. His condition was not considered dangerous, especially as it was known that he was subject to attacks from both of these diseases. Mr. Dupy himself did not know how serious his illness was and the thought of death never came to his mind until death itself was present. He was ill but forty-three hours.
H. W. Dupy, one of a family of eleven children, was born in Ohio. He afterwards moved with his parents to Iowa and from Iowa to Waverly, Ill., where he met and married his present wife. The deceased came to Chillicothe in February of 1895, and in December of 1896 started in the hotel business here. Since that time he has been connected with the Luella hotel and as proprietor of that hostelry has made many friends in this city. He was 54 years old and leaves no children.
The deceased has six brothers and four sisters, most of whom are living at his old home at Waverly. His parents are dead. One brother, John Dupy, lives in this city.
The corpse will be taken to Waverly tonight on the midnight train and the funeral will occur in that place Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning.
