Residence Duplin County NC; 18 years old.
Enlisted on 8/28/1861 at Teachey, Duplin County, NC as a Private, he mustered at Wilmington, NC, into "E" Co. NC 30th Infantry.
Wounded 6/27/1862 Gaines' Mill, VA.; Hospitalized 7/1/1862 at Moore's General Hospital #4, Richmond,Va.; medical furlough; returned 1/1/1863.
He was Killed In Action in the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA.

The 30th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Camp Mangum, near Raleigh, North Carolina, in October, 1861. The men were raised in the following counties: Sampson, Warren, Brunswick, Wake, Nash, Granville, Duplin, Edgecombe, Moore, and Mecklenburg.
It sustained 125 casualties at Chancellorsville.
