Tony H. Martin, a former Waverly resident died March 15, 1981 at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mr. Martin was born June 24, 1908 in Floyd County, Virginia, the son of Walter I. and Sarah (Reed) Martin. In 1910 he came to Illinois with his parents and to Waverly in 1916. He attended the Waverly schools.
On Sept. 17, 1932 he was married to Dorothy E. Davenport at Jacksonville, Ill. To this union were born two daughters, Sally Joann and Judith Lynn.
For over 25 years he was manager of Kraft Cheese plants in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. He retired in1973 and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida.
He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Knights of Pythias and Elks. Mr. Martin was presented numerous high awards for outstanding work with Kraft Cheese Company and a number of civil awards.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald H. Martin. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mrs. Chares Loveday of West Palm Beach, Florida and Mrs. Judith Lynn Graham of Columbia, Tenn; a granddaughter, Kathy Loveday of West Palm Beach. Other survivors include two brothers, Guy W. Martin of Waverly and Walter L. "Bill" Martin of Buena Park, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. L. E. (Vivian) Shearburn of Alton; three nephews, John G. Martin, La Habra, Calif., Rev. Wally M. Shearburn, St. Louis, Mo.; and Mark X. Martin, Buena Park, Calif., and a niece, Mrs. Donna del Fierro, Watseka, Ill.
Graveside services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Jack Brown and Rev. Wally M. Shearburn officiating. Neece Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
