Barbara Dale Ambrose, 75, of Upperco died on March 24, 2013 at her home. She was born on January 22, 1938 in Virginia to the late Herbert Doyle and Martha Howard Ambrose.
Barbara was a Graduate of Longwood College with majors in Mathematics and Chemistry. In the 1960's she worked as an analyst on NASA space flight systems and then as an analyst for ABC news on the 1968 presidential election. She developed the first Reads Drug automated inventory and ordering system and was the Program Manager on the new automated sortation facility in the 1990's for Fed Ex in Memphis. She earned her Masters Degree from Harvard University in Business before becoming Director of Systems Engineering for Northrop Grumman.
She is survived by her life partner Patricia Fallon of Upperco; sister Joan Lindsey of Gloucester, VA, nieces and nephews Becky Slate of NC, Teresa and John Altemus of Gloucester, VA, Patty Lindsey and Todd Wolpert of Norfolk, Shannen Jenkins of Gloucester and Andy Lindsey of Freeport, FL. Great nieces and nephews Kim and Jason Beck, Melissia and Nathan Varnadore, Ryan, Kyle and Kolin Jenkins. Great Great nieces and nephews Donovan Varnadore, Isaac Beck and Kinley Varnadore.Predeceased by step mother Wilma Virginia Ambrose.
Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown on Tuesday 3-5 & 7-9pm. Prayer service will be held on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon on Wednesday 12 noon. Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 10am with service to follow at 11am at the Hogg Funeral Home, 3098 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester Point, VA. Interment will be at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
