Eldest surviving son of Joseph Walker Snoddy(1793-1853) and Narcissa Hannah Foster Snoddy and husband to Martha E. Snoddy. It is believed two younger brothers where killed in the War Between the States. It is also thought that John also served briefly in the Missouri State Guard but was captured near Milford, Missouri Dec. 19th, 1861. His whole unit was caught while trying to link up with General Price`s main army. They where in route from somewhere in Saline County, Missouri. If it is the right John he was imprisoned for awhile before possibly taking the oath to be released. Nothing else has yet been uncovered on this subject by this compiler. It is known and recorded that he, as a younger man, owned at least one slave named Jackson who helped on the family farm west of Armstrong, Missouri. After his father died in 1853 he and his brother Robert M. stayed on and ran the farm for Narcissa and the family. More later as time permits!
