Mary Belle Bodkin, Daughter of James and Mary Bodkin, was born, near Anderson, Indiana April 6, 1859 and departed this life April 21, 1952 at the age of 93 years and 15 days.
She spent the early years of her life in Indiana, where she was married In 1875 to Ellsha Routh. A few years later, Mr, and Mrs. Routh moved to Adams County, Iowa and settled on a farm west of Carbon. They were the parents of six children: Mrs. Grace Baker, who passed away in 1929, Mrs. Fannie Larsen of McClelland, lowa, Robert E. Routh of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, a son William who died In infancy, and Don C. Routh and Kenneth R. Routh of Carbon, Iowa.
Her husband died in, 1907 and in 1914 she was married to Daniel Lote Boham who passed away in 1917.
Besides her four living children, Mrs. Boham is survived by three daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand children as well as a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Mrs. Boham was greatly beloved by the entire community where she lived for so many happy years. Her family will always remember her as a kind and loving mother and a devoted grandmother. She was a friend of everyone and everyone was he .friend. She lived each day to its fullest and made plans for the tomorrow.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23rd, at 2:00 p. m. from the Methodist Church, in Carbon. Iowa, conducted by Rev, Don Cutler. Music was furnished by Mrs. Clinton Cooper and Warren Routh accompanied by Mrs. George Dotson.
Interment was in the Quincy Cemetery, with Jesse Figgins, John Roberts, Lloyd Boham, Herman Figgins, Charley Tindall, and John Deveraux acting as pall bearers.
Those attending the service from a distance were Mr. Ted Small and family, Mrs. Doc Campbell and children, Wm. Bodkin, Mrs. Cora Bronenburg, Mrs. Hazel Cook, Mrs. Hortense Baker, Mrs. Della Cunningham of Anderson, Indiana, Arnold Routh, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Routh, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Routh, New Richland, Minnesota, Alders Routh of New Richland, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boham, Tom Cartwright of Van Wert, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Routh, Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Truxton Routh, Kearney, Nebraska, Clifford Baker, son Jimmie, Longmont, Colorado, Mrs. Fanny Larsen, McClelland, Iowa, Mrs. Velma Brokman of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. John Sims, Sidney, Iowa, Ed Reavis, Villisca, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Richey, Mrs. Frank Mullen, Mr. and Mrs. Harris O'Riley, Mrs. Louie Houck, and Mrs. Grace Bryant, Creston, Iowa.
