MARIETTA — Services for Artie Mae Cross of Marietta, Okla., are set for 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, in Marietta's First Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Anderson officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla., will be under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.


She was born December 31, 1932, at Wilson Creek in Marshall County, the daughter of Noble Paul Watson and Rosalea Pumell Watson. She passed away Thursday, March 21, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 80.


A homemaker, Artie had been a resident of Love County most of her life. She graduated from Rexroat High School in 1951 and was then employed as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. On May 9, 1954, she married Jackie R. "Jack" Cross in Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2008.


Artie worked as a wrapper at Foodway, and then she and her husband owned and operated Jack's Grocery in Man'etta until their retirement in 1996.


Artie enjoyed Facebook and watching soap operas. In addition she was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the OU Sooners. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and the companionship of her dog, Chloe. Artie was a member of Marietta's First Baptist Church.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda Banks on January 14, 2010; sister, Claudine Watkins; dad who raised her, D.E. "Bud" Watkins; and brother-in-law, Terry Gentry.


Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Bob and Brenda Cross of Marietta; son-in-law, Ricky Banks of Burneyville, Okla.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Gloria and Zack Smith of Yukon, Okla., and Marylan Gentry of Wilson, Okla.; four grandchildren, Brandon Kyle, Erick Banks, Kyle Jack Banks and Bree Cross; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan Hull, Jackson Kyle, Mackenzie Kyle, Landon Kyle, Baylor Tomlinson, Kenadea Banks, Aubrey Banks, Bronc Banks and Raylon Banks; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Serving as bearers will be Darren Gentry, Brandon Kyle, Scotty Smith, Erick Banks, Kyle Banks and Ricky Banks. Honorary bearers are Bobby Reed, Bobby Reed, Jr., Dr. Tom O'Connor. Dewey Smith, Zack Smith, Bobby Stubbs, Kyle Reed, Tristan Hull, Baylor Tomlinson and the staff of Mercy Health Love County.


The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
