Orville E. Pardieck, 86, of 18th Street died at 9:55 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

He was a partner in Pardieck's Ace Hardware and Clover Center Shopping Center. He was involved in the family business, Pardieck's Garage and Hardware.

Mr. Pardieck was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received the American Theater ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and enjoyed woodworking.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, St. Peter's Together We Grow or American Cancer Society.

Mr. Pardieck was born on March 13, 1918, the son of Edward J. and Adelina Schuette Pardieck. He married Helen R. Volland on June 10, 1944. He married Ellen G. Simpson on Nov. 16, 1984.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gilbert Pardieck, of Columbus; daughters, Kathryn E. Schaefer of Cincinnati and Eileen VonFange of Columbus; a stepson, David B. Simpson of Rushville, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Mary E. Newlin, of Nineveh; grandchildren, Bryan and Chris Schaefer of Columbus, Brent Schaefer of Cincinnati, Tammy Goecker of Seymour, and Kyla and Adam Pardieck, both of Columbus; stepgrandchildren, Robert and Alissa Newlin, both of Nineveh, and Katie and Rachel Simpson, both of Rushville, Ill.; a brother, William H. Pardieck of Columbus; sisters, Evelyn Armuth and Leona Pardieck, both of Columbus; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife on Nov. 30, 1980.
