Paul Chavez, Sr., age 94 of Clovis, NM passed away on March 21, 2013, at Clovis Healthcare and Rehab Center in Clovis, NM.
Paul was born on December 19, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. Pablo Chavez in Montoya, NM. He married Fabiana G. Gonzales in 1938 in Clovis, NM. Paul believed in working hard. He was a truck driver for the City of Clovis and he was a mechanic in his early years. Paul also worked for the railroad. He enjoyed working in the yard, being in the outdoors and watching any type of Western movie or television show. He also enjoyed playing the guitar when he was younger. Paul was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis, NM.
Paul is survived by three children: Paul Chavez, Jr., Alice C. (Henry) Garcia and Steve A. Chavez, Sr., all of Clovis, NM; one sister: Belen (Betty) Hermocio of Albuquerque, NM; eight grandchildren: Kathy (Pete) Griego of Albuquerque, NM, Melanie (Omar) Lopez of El Paso, Texas, Pamela Chavez, Dorothy Chavez and Michael (Roseann) Garcia, all of Clovis, NM, Marcus Garcia of Denver , Colorado and Steve Chavez, Jr. and Matthew (Melissa) Chavez, Sr., all of Clovis, NM; fourteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fabiana Chavez, in 1997 and numerous sisters and brothers.
A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Fernando Saenz officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis, NM. Pall Bearers are Michael Garcia, Marcus Garcia, Steve Chavez, Jr., Matthew Chavez, Sr., Keanu Lopez and Secundino Griego. Honorary Pall Bearers are Paul's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
