Mom was born in Kansas City, the 10th of 11 children, to Francis (Frank) Xavier Perry and Hannah Lee Reese. She lived in a little house and always told me she was "poor" when growing up. I also heard stories about "the nuns", as she was brought up in a Roman Catholic school. She graduated from Center High School in 1954 and worked as a telephone operator. She married Dad in 1959 and shares the same anniversary date as her mother and her grandmother. She loved kids and taught Sunday school, was involved in Cub Scouts, and worked in a local Christian Book store, "For Heaven Sake", that she inadvertantly named when her friend, and owner of the store, came unnanouced to visit Mom. When Mom opended the door and saw her friend, she exclaimed "Well for Heaven sake"! A store was born.
She was known for her sense of humor and doted over her grandkids. She died after a short battle with cancer and was cremated. Her ashes were scattered in the Black Hills of South Dakota, a favorite area where she and Dad spent many happy times. They were together for 50 years.
We miss you, mom.
