He was born in Nantahala, Macon County, NC on October 15, 1893, the son of John Allen Beauregard DeHart
One contributor sent me edit adding as his mother: Marthy Jane "Marthy" Mason DeHart.
However, another (# 47128887) said (and it fits my database): His mother is not Martha Mason. His mother is Lovada Jane Forrister. Lovada did not die until April 20, 1897 and his father John did not marry Martha until 11 September, 1897 which is 4 years after his birth, making it impossible for her to be his mother.
He served as a Private, US ARMY, during WORLD WAR 1
Enlisted on 1 Apr 1918, Released on: 18 Apr 1919
He married Maud McMahan in Bryson City, NC on November 19, 1930; they later divorced in Guilford County, NC on September 19, 1961.
Of the children born to this union: Blanche, Joe, Tommy, Thad.
He was living in Marble, Cherokee County, NC at the time of his death; he died at the VA Hospital in Oteen, Buncombe County, NC on December 3, 1980.
