Robert Smith Holding, 79, of Cedar Rapids,
was welcomed home May 21, 2009, after a
short illness. Memorial services will be
1 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Cedar Memorial
Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Jonathon
Offt of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday
at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment
will take place in Oxford Junction. He was
preceded in death by his parents and three
sisters.
Robert Smith Holding was born Jan. 6, 1930,
in Green Bay, Wis., the son of Paul and Hazel
(Smith) Holding. He attended the University
of Wisconsin — Green Bay for two years, and
graduated from DeVry Technical Institute in
Chicago. He later moved to Cedar Rapids. He
was united in marriage to Marjorie L. P. on
May 25, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, and they
had a wonderful life together for almost 52
years. He was employed for 35 years as a lab
technician at Rockwell Collins. He lived a
full life and made many friends who touched
his heart. Those who knew him were regaled
with stories of his life and it is the family's
hope that those stories will be fondly remembered
and continued to be retold in honor of this great
man.
