Pioneer Oklahoma City businessman, W T Hales, 65, died in a Los Angeles Hospital after spending several months at his summer home in Long Beach. At death, he was president of the Hales-Mullaly Inc; president of the Hales Investment Co; chairman of the Los Angeles Savings & Loan Co; vice president of First National Bank & Trust Co. He started a horse and mules busines at the turn of the century and started amassing a fortune.

He married Oneta Hales, Jun 21, 1893, and they divorced in 1935. On Oct 23, 1938, she was made co-trustee for the Security Building which was placed in trust for their five children. The building, located on SE corner of Main & Harvey, was valued at $250,000 and was not part of the estate. The William T Hales estate worth $1 million, consisting of real estate, stocks, securities, oil & gas producing lands and leases and household goods, was held in trust.

Beneficiaries included five children, Mrs Carter Mullaly, Mrs W F Peterson, Mrs Joe Chalmers Campbell, W T Hales Jr and George Hales, all of OKC; two brothers, T J Hales & James L Hales (deceased); and his personal secretary (name illegible).
