A resident of Murphysboro for 59 years, she had been ill six months. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Murphysboro.
Mrs. Akin was born March 29, 1886, in Pomona, a daughter of Willie and Rebecca Cook Lindsey. She was married in 1904 to Elmus Akin who died in 1960.
Surviving we two sons, Granvil of Murphysboro and Wallace of Des Moines, Iowa, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m Monday in the Meyer-Denny Funeral Home, Murphysboro, with the Rev. Buford Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the [Mount Pleaswant] Jerusalem Cemetery, Pomona.
