Donald Moore Hosmer


Donald Moore Hosmer 88, of Indianapolis passed away May 24, 2010.

He was born April 1, 1922 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Ansel F. Hosmer, Jr. and Babe (Moore) Hosmer.

Mr. Hosmer was Market Representative Manager for Ford Motor Co. District office, having retired in 1986. He was a third generation graduate of the University of Michigan in 1943. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the C.B.I. Theatre. In 1973 he graduated Cum Laude from the I.U. Law School (Indianapolis) while employed by Ford Motor Co. His love of family, church, and learning were his joys.

Mr. Hosmer was a 58 year member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was active as an usher, served on the Senior Vestry, and committees. With his wife and daughter he tutored several years at Evans House of Children's Bureau; was a volunteer at the Indiana Historical Society, a member of S.A.R. Clarence Cook Chapter; a former member of the Society of Retired Executives; American Philatelic Society; Indianapolis Bar Association; former member of the Indianapolis Sailing club; and helped in Boy Scouts.

Family vacations at Lake Hamlin in Michigan and family trips are cherished memories, He and Jo also traveled the USA and abroad in his quest of history.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Amanda Dell.

Survivors are his loving wife of 63 years (Hazel) Jo Bennett Hosmer; his brother; his children; grandchildren; step-grandson; step-great grandson and his; three nephews and one niece.

The burial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Trinity Episcopal Church 3243 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, where calling will be in the Fortune Room of the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Riley Hospital for Children or the Indiana Historical Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple.

Donald Moore Hosmer


Donald Moore Hosmer 88, of Indianapolis passed away May 24, 2010.
