Uncle John died of Thyphoid fever. Daddy brought him from Dallas to Webb in a wagon. It was so cold that Daddy could not dig Uncle John's grave. He waited until the ground thawed enough to dig his grave. The coffin sat on Daddy's porch for several months. The children were told to stay away so they wouldn't get thyphoid. This story was told to me by my half sister Susie Fry Skinner.
