At Age~12 he was injured on December 20, 1029 while delivering newspapers riding his bicycle, he was hit by a Street Car in New Albany, Indiana. He had a foot amputated that day and he died on the operating table, Dec. 22, 1929 at St. Edwards Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral was at Kraft's on Spring Street (across from the Hospital) on Dec. 24, 1929.
