Edith Allen Barceloux, 93, died peacefully in her sleep in Chico, California on March 10th, 2013. She was born to Leslie and Florence Allen in Portland, Oregon on July 16th, 1919.

At the age of 5 years, she moved with her family to an orange ranch in Orland. She graduated from Orland High School as valedictorian of her class and the second women President of the Orland High School Student Body.

After attending Stanford University and the University of Oregon, she returned to Orland, where she married lifelong Orland resident and prominent businessman, Reeve Henry Barceloux. They purchased the orange ranch after the death of her father and raised their children there.

She was an active member of many civic and educational organizations, serving as President of the Orland Parent Teachers' Association, the Orland Junior Women's Club, and the Orland Women's Improvement Club. She served 6 years on the Board of Trustees, Orland Joint Union High School, and 9 years on the Board of Directors of the Butte Glenn Tehama Chapter of the American Cancer Society. In the California Federation for Women's Clubs, she was the Northern District Scholarship Chairman; she was also a charter member of the Children's Home Society, Sandman Chapter.

After the death of her husband in 1973, she remained active in local affairs, serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern California Health System Agency, Secretary of the Orland Orange Growers Association, and Secretary of the Glenn County Juvenile Justice Commission. In 1971, she was elected to the Board of Trustees of Enloe Medical Center in Chico, where she served on the Quality Assurance, Education and By-Laws, and Joint Hospital Commission Committees. She remained actively involved on her ranch until moving to an assisted living facility in 2001, spending the last five years of her life under the compassionate care of WestHaven Assisted Living In Orland.

She is survived by her sons, Donald G. Barceloux, MD of Los Angeles and Peter M. Barceloux of lssaquah, WA, and her grandchildren, Colin J. Barceloux of San Francisco, Shannon and her husband Michael Leggieri of Davis, Reeve Barceloux of lssaquah, WA, and Kelly Barceloux of Lincoln, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reeve H. Barceloux, her son Reeve Allen Barceloux Jr., and her second husband Frank Pucci.
