CORA BILLUPS DIES
Mrs. Cora Allen Billups, a longtime residence of the Marceline area died Sept. 22, 1972 at St. Francis Hospital in Marceline. She was 84 years old. Funeral services were conducted at McLaughlin Chapel Sunday, Sept. 24, 1972. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Billups leaves three sons, Clarence, Ralph and Wilbur, all of Marceline; five daughters, Mrs. Eva Pippin of La Plata, Mrs. Ruby Dorrell of Marceline, Mrs. Alma Pope of Marceline, Mrs. Florence Linebaugh of Brookfield, Mrs. Waunita Linebaugh of Bynumville; 43 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Edna Foster of Laclede, Mrs. Mary Miller of Denver, Colorado; and one brother, William Allen of Brookfield.
Cora Allen, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Isaac Allen, was born July 3, 1888. She was married to Ben Billups on Dec. 3, 1906. Eight children were born to the couple.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, four brothers, four sisters, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law. Mrs. Billups accepted Jesus as her Savior early in life and at her death was a member of the Powell Church. She had in past years attended the First Baptist Church.
