A memorial service will be held Jan. 20 for Mark Alan Banton of Hillsboro, formerly of Junction City, who died Jan. 13 of a brain tumor. He was 45.
Banton was born Aug. 20, 1957, in Eugene to Calvin and Vera Banton. He married Cristie Pollard in Eugene on Jan. 12, 1980.
A 1975 graduate of Junction City High School, he lived in Junction City for 21 years before settling in the Hillsboro area. He worked in heavy construction in the Portland area for 20 years before starting his own company, Boulder Excavation. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Junction City; a daughter, Jessica Banton of Hillsboro; a son, David of Hillsboro; three brothers, Dale and Gary, both of Junction City, and Steve of Bend; and a sister, Linda Anderson of Alpine, Texas.
Monday's service will be at 11 a.m. at the Laurel Community Church, 30640 S.W. Laurel Road, in Hillsboro. Autumn Funerals & Cremations in Tigard is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the OHSU Foundation for cancer research.
