Dale "Butch" Williams
Funeral services for Dale "Butch" Williams, 77, of Sioux Rapids were held Sunday, May 29, at 1 pm., at the First United Church, Sioux Rapids, with Rev. Rodger McKinney officiating. Burial was in Washington Township Cemetery at Havelock.
He died Thursday evening, May 26, at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
Lewis Dale Williams was born January 9, 1911 at Havelock, the son of Jay and Catherine Claussen Williams. He graduated from Havelock High School.
He was married to Beneta Cole of Havelock in September 1929.
"Butch" and his family moved to Sioux Rapids in 1935 where he was manager of the Quaker Oats Company Elevator until 1966 when the elevator was sold. He then worked for Webb Grain for eight years.
Dale was active on the Sioux Rapids baseball team and was a councilman and mayor for twelve years. He was also a member of the
Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Little Sioux Golf Course.
He is survived by his wife, Beneta; his sons, Robert Dean of Denver, CO, Billy Dale of San Jose, CA; and a daughter, Barbara Joenks of Rossie; ten grandchildren;
