This soldiers grave was reinterred at Jefferson Barraks Cemetery as an unknown soldier of the Civil War, after a flood in 1876 washed away the wooden markers of 470 soldiers graves at Arsenal/Quarantine Island Cemetery in St. Louis, MO, where he was previously buried.
Enlisted in Co. H, 12th Missouri Cavalry on 21 Jan 1864 at Bethany, Mo.
Died of smallpox at the contagious disease hospital on Arsenal/Quarantine Island and was buried there. After a flood in 1876 washed away all headboards and means of identification, was one of 470 soldiers reinterred at Jefferson Barracks as an Unknown Soldier.
