Ambrose Joseph Smith was born 1/24/1849 and baptised 1/29/1849 under the name of Joseph Schmid. Parents George & Susann Allwein Schmid. (Source: Conewago Chapel Baptism Records)
All Census and marrige records refer to him as Ambrose (no middle initial).
His death certificate notes his name as Ambrose J, date of birth 1/24/1848, father George, mother unknown. Informant was his wife Mary.
