Catherine Dennis Baker Sauls, 82, wife of Joseph C. Sauls, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 26, 2009, in McLeod Hospice House after a long illness.
Mrs. Sauls was born at Ropers Crossroads to Leo Dennis and Mary Ammons Dennis on May 24, 1927. She and her first husband, John Carroll Baker, owned and operated several businesses in Lake City. After his death in 1970, she continued in business. In 1974, she married Joseph C. Sauls of Cades. In 1980 they moved to Surfside Beach and both worked at the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Mrs. Sauls retired to become a housewife in 1989, and began traveling throughout the United States. She was a member of the Lakewood Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a charter member of Believers Holiness Church.

Mrs. Sauls is preceded in death by four brothers, Ervin Dennis, who was killed in World War II, Eugene Dennis, Hagood Dennis and Hoyt Dennis.
