John H. Williams, 90, of Akin, died at 10:10am Tuesday in Franklin Hospital, Benton. He had been ill for several years.
Born June 30, 1879 in Texas, he was the son of Noah and Ellen Summers Williams. He was a Spanish-American War veteran and a member of the Akin Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr.Williams was a retired carpenter and lived most of his life in Franklin County.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie, at home; a son, Lawrence, of Battle Creek, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Holloway, Augusta, Michigan. Seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2pm Friday at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton. Rev. A.L. Cox will officiate. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery, near Akin. Friends may call after 3pm Thursday at the funeral home.
