Obituary
Emory Hess was born in Momence, Kankakee county, Illinois, January 20, 1855 and died July 6, 1913, aged 58 years, 5 months and 16 days.
He was married to Nellie McKinstry at Grant Park, Illinois, March 9, 1881. To this union was born eight children, all of whom with the widow survive him. They are Myrtan Hess, Mrs. Ed. Watkins, Mina, Beula, Ida, Lester, Sherman and Lucy. Three brothers and one sister are left with the family to mourn him.
All of his early life was spent around Momence and Grant Park. Illinois. He came with his family to Independence, Kansas ten years ago last spring, where he has resided ever since.
The funeral services of Emory Hess was conducted by Rev. Horner at White Post Methodist church on Wednesday, July 9, 1913.
