Mr. Vanzandt had lived in Murphysboro for 25 years.
He was born in Carterville Dec. 17, 1897, the son of Alonzo and Martha Jane Hogg Vanzandt. He married Mildred Ozburn May 18, 1944, in Morganfield, Ky.
Mr. Vanzandt was a retired coal miner, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He leaves his wife; stepdaughters, Mrs. James Carlock, Mrs. Loy E. Hines, and Mrs. Mary Sarensen, all of Murphysboro; sisters, Mrs.Ruth Bell of Elkville and Mrs. Virgil Lloyd of South Bend, Ind.; a brother, Johnny of Rockford, and three grandchildren.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
