Anna McCray Prentice, 84, of St. Johns died peacefully surround by family Feb. 27, 2013, at White Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville. She was born Oct. 26, 1928, in St. Johns.
Anna worked as Apache County Assessor for 20 years.
She is survived by her beloved eternal companion of nearly 63 years, Bill (Bompa) Prentice of St. Johns; daughter Linda Prentice of St. Johns; grandchildren: Brandon (Erin) Silverhorn of St. Johns, Patricia Silverhon, Brian (Amanda) Silverhorn of Snowflake, Jason (Magen) Silverhorn of Sacramento, Calif., Michael (Clacie) Prentice of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Marcus (Nicole) Prentice of Provo, Utah, Suzanne (Tony) Kirkham, Mandy (Kiff) Hale, Kristine Prentice, Lorie (Bruce) Benedict, Garrick Prentice; great-grandchildren: Kurtis Silverhorn, Jonothan Silverhorn, Anastasia, Kortnie and Graham Silverhorn, Cheyanne Silverhorn, Lianna Silverhorn, Emmit Prentice, Kaitlyn Prentice, Elyse, Julia and Ari Sluiter, Jayden, Katia, Delta and Emma Kirkham, Michael, Kandace, Hailey, Shelby, Megan, Savannah, and Ethan Hale, Dustin and Meranda Merrill, MaKenzie Prentice, Marlee Brown, Brooke, Clay, Corbin, and Cagen Benedict, Paxton, Kimber, and Harper Prentice. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchild, Addison Hale; brothers and sisters: Terry and (Sally) McCray of Taylor, Douglas and (Ginger) McCray of Show Low, Phillip and (Gloria) McCray of Lakeside, Colleen McCray of Snowflake, Correnne and (Elmer) Magee of Taylor, Kay and (Jimmy Leverton) of St. Johns and Kathy and (Neal deceased) Reidhead of Nutrioso and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sons: Matthew Prentice and Jim (James) Prentice, grandson Austin Silverhorn, parents Dexter Lee and Euphemia (Berry) McCray, siblings Quentin and Hazel McCray, R. Kelly McCray, Deaton and (Nancy) McCray, W.G. "Babe" McCray, B. William Lawrence "Bill" McCray and two sisters, Sibyl and (Delbert) Lumb and Lorna and Jake Scarbrough.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Downtown LDS Chapel in St. Johns, with a viewing one hour prior to services and from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 8 at Burnham's Mortuary, 20 S. Washington St. in St. Johns.
