Mrs. Rosa Belle Seago, 87, of 511 East 2nd Street, a resident of Wheeler County since 1923, was dead on arrival at Shamrock General Hospital Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church of Shamrock. Officiating at the last rites was the Rev. DeWitt Seago, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Pampa, a nephew of Mrs. Seago. Assisting were the Rev. Tommie Beck, pastor of the local First United Methodist Church, the Rev. C.R. Hankins, pastor of the Glenn David Memorial First United Methodist Church of Dozier, and the Rev. Cecil L. Rankin, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Iona, Kan. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons: George Seago, Doyle Brown, Jerry Brown, Donnie Brown, Wendell Brown and Larry Douglas. Richerson Funeral Home was in charge of interment in Shamrock Cemetery.
Mrs. Seago was born November 18, 1883, in Pine Bluff, Ark., and moved to Texas, to China Spring, when she was four years old. It was at China Spring that she was married to George Marvin Seago on December 20, 1903. Mr. and Mrs. Seago moved to the Plainview Community, northwest of Shamrock, in 1923. They later moved to Lela, where they operated a grocery store for eight years. Following Mr. Seago's death July 30, 1946, Mrs. Seago made her home with her daughters, Vela Nix and Mozelle Brown, in Lela, for a number of years, and in 1968, moved to Shamrock with Mrs. Nix.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Seago was preceded in death by a 16 month old son in July of 1925. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shamrock.
Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Vela Nix of Shamrock and Mrs. C.V. Brown of Happy; two sons, J.D. of San Joes, Calif., and W. Floyd of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, W.A. Wardlow of Plainview.
