Mrs. Nix, of 511 East Second Street died at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 1973, in Shamrock General Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past several months.
Burial in Shamrock Cemetery was under the direction of Richerson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were her nephews: Bill Olbert and George Seago, both of Denver, Colorado; Wendell Brown of Chillicothe; Jerry Brown and Donnie Brown, both of Amarillo; and Larry Douglas of Crane. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews: Gerald Glyn Osborn, Mirl Glynn Osborn, and Ronny Osborn, all of Andrews; and Taylor Douglas of Crane.
Born June 13, 1905, in McClellan County, Miss Vela Belle Seago and J. Clyde Nix were married June 10, 1921, in Hamilton County, Texas, and moved from Hico to Wheeler County in 1925.
She had lived in Lela and Shamrock since that time. She and her husband operated a grocery store-service station at Lela for many years. Mr. Mix preceded her in death in 1966.
Mrs. Nix was a member of the United Methodist Women Susannah Group, and the Needlecraft Club, which she was serving as president at the time of her death.
While living in Lela, she was a member of First Methodist Church and served as the church treasurer and taught a young people's Sunday School class for many years.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. C.V. Brown of Shamrock; two brothers: J.D. Seago of Santa Clara, California; and Floyd Seago of Denver, Colorado, many nieces and nephews.
