Final rites for Charlie W. Sanders, 86, 309 West Ninth Street, were held Friday, August 30, at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Shamrock. Rev. Jim Scott, pastor, assisted Rev. Bill Rushing, pastor of the Samnorwood First Baptist Church, in conducting the services. Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery under direction of Richerson Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were James Woods, Ran Henry, Roy Conner, Harold Sanders, Melvin Clancy and Aaron McLeod.
Mr.Sanders died Tuesday morning in Shamrock General Hospital following an illness of approximately three months.
Born June 24, 1888, in Scottsboro, Alabama, he came to Texas in 1913, settling in Sunset where he owned and operated a grocery store. The store burned in 1923 and he moved to Fort Worth and operated a grocery store. From 1925 to 1930 Mr. Sanders farmed in the Twitty Community. From 1930 to 1932 he made his home in Morton, moving back to Wheeler County in 1932 he made his home in Morton. Mr. Sanders had owned and operated Sander's Newsstand for the last 20 years in Shamrock.
He was a Baptist and served as a deacon of the First Baptist church of Twitty while living in the community.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. John Griffith of Tehran, Iran and Mrs. Charline Carroll of Kellerville; two stepdaughters: Mrs. Carl Henry of Shamrock, Mrs. Ruby Southard of Abilene one stepson, Gene Waits, of Sweetwater; three sisters: Mrs. Alice Bobo, Mrs. Rosa Wainscott and Mrs. Ruby Henshaw, all of Stroud, Oklahoma; one brother, Ben Sanders of Stroud; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
