George S. Miller of Mason was born in Essex county, N.J. in June 1817. When George was two years old his parents removed to the state of New York, and in 1835 with his widowed mother and her family, he came to Cass county. In 1840 he settled on the farm now owned by Isaac Moser, and in December 1841 married Miss Mariah A. Follet. In 1869 he sold his farm and bought another of William Allen where he resided until his death January 24, 1881. His wife died August 26, 1877, at the age of sixty years.
