Mrs. Virginia V. Roerty, formerly of 521 S. Main St., Phillipsburg, died Friday in Warren Haven.
Born in Boonton, N.J., she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Barnes McIntosh, and was one of 15 children.
A Phillipsburg resident for more than 65 years, she was active in local politics and was a past Democratic Committee woman and was a former member of the Mary T. Norton Democratic Club, Phillipsburg. She also taught sewing at Sts. Philip and James Parochial School, Phillipsburg, and was a charter member of the school's Parent Teacher Association.
She was a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church.
Her husband, Philip E. Roerty, died in 1969.
Surviving are two sons; John of Shimer Manor and Eugene of Phillipsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Wagner, Phillipsburg; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Bowyer, Phillipsburg, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Doyle Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
