Miss Haidee V. Beard

Miss Haidee V. Beard, daughter of the late Rev M. L. Beard and Catherine Bowers Beard, died Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester S. Birely.

The deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Thurmont and has been active in church affairs as long as her health permitted. A graduate of Towson State Normal School, Miss Beard taught in Frederick County public schools for a number of years, retiring from active teaching duties about 10 years ago.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lester Birely of Thurmont and Mrs. Grace Young of Frederick; a brother, Paul Beard of Ellicott City and a number of nieces and nephews.

The body is at the M. L. Creager and Son funeral home at Thurmont where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. Miss Beard's pastor, Rev. Eugene R. McVicker, will conduct services. Interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery at Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, friends are requested to remember the Loysville Orphanage.
