CULLOM - The Funeral Of Glenn L. Ehlers, 87, of Cullom will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cullom, the Rev. Timothy Stevens officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom, and one hour before the service at the church. He died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 13, 1996) at his home. Memorials may be made to the Cullom Fire Department Ambulance.
Surviving are one daughter, Rita Mills, Cullom; and two sisters, Vera Hawthorne, Roberts; and Ruth Purdum, Piper City.
Also surviving are a son-in-law, Richard Mills, Cullom; and one granddaughter, Amy Mills, Bloomington.
He was born Feb. 16, 1908, in Wing, the son of August E. and Minnie (Bachler) Ehlers. He married Olive G. Ehlers on Feb. 1, 1935, in Buckingham. She died March 24, 1986.
His parents and one brother, Raymond Ehlers, also preceded him in death.
He was educated at Bell Top School at Wing. He farmed for 39 years until retiring in 1974. Mr. Ehlers had also been a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer for many years. He was mayor of Cullom from 1976 to 1981 and for 10 years had served as president of zoning for the village. He was secretary of the community building for 10 years and a former member of the Livingston County Planning Board for 10 years. For several years, he had served as an election judge and for six years as president of the Cullom Grade School Board. Mr. Ehlers had been a member of the Cullom Junior Fair Association for many years.
