Herman W. "Pete" Fleming, 90, of Westminster, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson.

Born Sept. 9, 1922, in Woodbine, he was the son of the late Vernie Fleming and Elizabeth Lewis Fleming. He was the husband of Bette B. Fleming, his wife of 58 years, who died June 18, 2005.

He attended Mount Airy High School. He was employed by C&P Telephone Company, where he retired in July 1984 after 34 years of service.

He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, where he served as usher, and was active in his Sunday School class and a member of the super sixties. He was a member of the C&P Telephone Pioneers and the Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary, where he was a volunteer in the hospital gift shop.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Faye Lynn Hughes and James Sr., of Orlando, Fla., and Terri Beth Myers and Phillip of Westminster; grandchildren James A. Hughes Jr. and wife Jackie, and Jeremy Hughes, all of Orlando, Ryan L. Myers and fiance Kelly Shaneybrook, of Hanover, Pa. and Meghan E. Myers, of Westminster; great-granddaughters Lauren Hughes and Courtney Coleman, of Orlando; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Robert, Roscoe, Herbert, Richard and Ralph Fleming; and a sister Mary Fowble.
