Nell Worden age 87, passed away at Wichita Falls Hospice on February 24, 2013, due to complications from breast cancer. Born to Hattie Edna and John Smith Murchison on August 1, 1925 in Crockett, Texas, she graduated from Crockett High School and moved to Houston where she met and married Johnny Worden on May 24, 1943. They were married for 50 years until his passing on June 11, 1995. Nell then relocated to Vernon, Texas in 1996 where she has lived since. Nell was a beloved mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends from the Lutheran Church. She spent her time volunteering at the hospital, playing dominoes, and was a fan of classic westerns especially John Wayne. Survivors include her daughter Martha Sutherland, her son-in-law Phil Sutherland, her son Randy Worden, her daughter-in-law Leyda and grandsons Scott Sutherland, Brian Sutherland, Jay Worden, Jose Portalatin and Gio Rivera. Nell was survived by her sister, Punkin Crow of College Station Texas, and her brother Bill Murchison of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Friday, March 1, 2013, from 11-12pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow at 1:30pm, Laurel Land Memorial Park.
