Katherine LeiAloha Winton, 88, of Lincoln City, Ore., died Feb. 22, 2011 at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City.

She was born Oct. 28, 1922 to Albert Paul Christian and Margaret LeiAloha Nakapuahi in Pahala, Kauai, Hawaii. She was born and raised on Kauai. She moved to Lincoln City in 1969 with her husband, Dick Winton. On Kauai, she worked at The CoCo Palms, which is where Blue Hawaii was filmed. In Oregon, Katherine worked at the Coho Inn in Lincoln City for more than 10 years.

Gardening, her pets and the birds, especially pigeons, were joys in her life. "Auntie Katherine" had many devoted friends who gave her much love and watched over her. Dee (Dolores West) and her family became her special Oregon family. They took good care of her and gave her much love and joy, often bringing her a dinner plate, scones and oranges.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Christian, Donald Christian, Albert Christian, Walter Christian and Douglas Christian; and sisters, Margaret Braun, Peggy Becklund and Annabelle Christian.

She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice Perin and Helen Bettencourt; her brother, Aly Christian; and niece Kuunani Burkhardt of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Her close friends and family will hold a private memorial.
