Annabelle Mokihana Christian, 74, died in Santa Cruz on Jan. 31st with grace and dignity. She was born and raised on Kauai, the youngest of 12 children. When Anna was a little girl, she would go fishing with her father. To get away with fishing so much, they would tell her mother, "We are going to fly a kite." This began her love for fishing and the ocean. In 1995, Anna moved to Santa Cruz with her sister, Beatrice Perin. When she discovered the Capitola Wharf it brought back the happiness she felt when fishing, spending many hours on the Wharf. She volunteered at the Capitola Boat and Bait Shop. She shared her joy and knowledge of fishing, and taught children how to fish. Her excitement for the fishermen's catch of the day was a spark on the Capitola Wharf. Anna loved baking and baked cookies and cakes for "her boys" on the wharf.

Anna was compassionate about animals and her pets. She encouraged adoption from the SPCA.

A native of Hawaii, Anna lived Hawaiian style with plenty of aloha. She has made her family and heritage proud. She was kind and generous with everyone. She is greatly missed.

A private service for family and friends will be held on the Capitola Wharf, April 23rd at 1 p.m.
