Joe M. Rider Dies After Long Illness
Joe M. Rider, age 73, of Hodge, died Thursday night in the Hodge Clinic after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 26, in the Hodge Baptist Church. Rev. W.J. Runnells conducted the services, assisted by Clyde Sullivan.
Burial was in the Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Mr. Rider was a retired sawyer with a sawmill company.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dora Rider of Hodge, three sons, Joe Rider of Houston, Texas, Donald Rider of Barksdale Air Force Base and James Rider of Springfield, Virginia;
four sisters, Mrs. Joe Aldy of Jonesboro, Mrs. Ocie Massey of Ferriday, Mrs. E.C. Hill of Sulphur and Mrs. Gladys Dale of Homer; two brothers, John R. Rider and Rev. Sam Rider, both of Hodge; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were M.M. Boone, Ira Bowman, Warren Evans, Leland Hall, Delbert Clark and Bobby Brantley.
