Died of Typhoid Fever while attending St. Joseph's Academy in Lockport, NY. Was buried at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY in the Martin Powell family plot, Lot 3; Div E; Sec 4.
She was the sister of Carolyn Adelle Mareane Marks and Marinda Mareane Egginton. All were orphaned in Seattle, Washington in 1899 and sent back to Elmira, NY to live with their aunt and uncle, Anna Looney Powell and Martin Powell. The three young girls lost both parents within six months of each other. Myrtle died three years later.
Myrtle is buried in the Powell family plot but there is no headstone for her.
