Oldest Resident Succumbs Monday
Mrs. Gradda Stulting .Doyle, 96, the oldest resident of Monterey, succumbed Monday, May 7, at her home on Main Street. Mrs. Doyle had been confined to her home for some time. The deceased was born July 16, 1861, at Hillsboro, Va. (Now W. Va.) The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hermanus Stulting, who had moved to that place from Holland. Mrs. Doyle is survived by one son, Ernest H. Doyle of Homestead, Fla. and four daughters, Mrs. George W. Ryder of Churchville; and Mrs. Leila Crummett, Mrs. Frank Terry and Mrs. E. W Cox, all of Monterey. She also leaves four great-great grandchildren, eight great-great children and 24 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Monterey Presbyterian Church by the Reverends A. E. Johnson and Daniel Simmons of Warm Springs. Burial followed in Monterey Cemetery.
